CJ Anderson— 7-3

Cortrelle Javon “C. J.” Anderson took the reins as the Mustangs head coach for the 2021 season. Coach Anderson played high school football in Vallejo, CA, where he rushed for over 4,000 yards in his career. After high school graduation, he was the first player from his high school to earn a scholarship for Division One football when he played for the University of California, Berkeley. After playing at Cal, CJ enjoyed a five-year career in the NFL. His one season as head coach at Monte Vista saw the Mustangs return to the NCS playoffs for the 2021 season. After the season, CJ heard a calling at a higher level and joined the Rice Owls as their running backs coach.
