Derrel Kennedy— 8-17-2

Derrel Kennedy succeeded Coach Crawford as the Mustang's head coach in 1972. Derrel attended Liberty High School, and played college football while attending Chico State. After college, he joined the faculty at San Ramon Valley where he coached for two years before moving to Monte Vista where he was a junior varsity coach for five years, ultimately serving as head coach before succeeding Ray Crawford. Derrel left Monte Vista after the 1974 season (highlighted by having two players on the roster who would enjoy NFL careers.
