Jim Nelson— 8-10-1

Jim Nelson was Monte Vista's head coach in for the 1975 and 1976 seasons. Jim joined the Monte Vista staff as an assistant to Derrel Kennedy after previously serving as an assistant coach for San Ramon Valley. A social studies teacher, Jim is a graduate of Chico State. His greatest memory of his time as the Mustang's head coach was a come from behind victory over the Wolves. With 33 seconds to go, Bill Fowler ran nine yards for a touchdown, creating a memorable event, and ending a four game winless streak against SRV. After leaving the Mustang program, Jim continued to coach football throughout the East Bay with stints at Logan, Los Medonos, San Ramon Valley, and Granada.
