Ray Crawford— 16-20

Ray Crawford signed the first teacher's contract at Monte Vista High School back in 1965 at the ripe old age of 26. In addition to his teaching duties, he served as the head basketball and baseball coach, and assistant football coach for the first year of the school, when the Mustangs only had a freshman class. While he gave up other coaching duties, he continued to serve as the head football coach through the 1971 season as the school was building the full varsity program. Ray is a graduate of UC Davis and coached at Dixon High School for three years, the last as head coach prior to joining the Mustangs. After moving on from Monte Vista, Ray served as a teacher or principal at a number of high schools in northern California. He closed out his career by serving as the Superintendent of Schools in Klamath Falls, Oregon for twelve years.
