Matt Russi— 19-21

Matt Russi came full circle when he became the Mustang’s head coach in 2017. Russi’s journey began in high school as a Monte Vista player, coached by former head coach Craig Bergman during the 2002-2004 seasons. After graduation, Matt’s career continued as a Division One college linebacker at Cal Berkeley from 2005-2008. Following his passion in the sport, Russi worked at Cal and the University of Kansas in their recruiting offices. He returned to Monte Vista to work under Coach Bergman as the Strength & Conditioning coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Mustangs 2016 NCS championship team.
